Floating Shelves and Votive Candleholders Over The Mounted TV
So in my last post I talked about filling the gap between my mounted TV and the TV stand, but what about the space between the TV and the ceiling? I hated that that blank space was there and wanted to fill it with something. I could have easily placed a plaque up there but I didn't find anything I liked the day I went shopping. Besides, I was shopping at my second home, Lowes!
The candle holder cost me $19.95 and the shelf cost about $25. If you notice, the shelf seems to float above the TV. This is what you would call a hidden bracket shelf.

Wrought Iron Candleholders and Silk Flowers Under the Wall Mounted TV
Ok, so you buy a flat screen and decide to mount it on the wall. You have your cable box, DVD/Blu-Ray players, video game consoles, Audio Tuner, and all this "stuff" that connects to the TV so you can't get rid of your TV stand. I personally decided not to move the outlet behind the TV and I didn't want any holes in the wall to run the HDMI cable behind it so I got stuck with black cords hanging down. Here is my fix!
First thing's first, cover up those black cords. Go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy a cord cover. They come in all different sizes and are pretty cheap. I bought a white plastic one. now I don't know if you noticed, but my walls are not exactly white. These cord covers are paintable! The one I have is wide so it has a back plate that is mounted on the wall. The cover is painted the same color of my wall and allowed to dry. Once dry, the cover just snaps on, over the back plate. No more black cords!
While this looks MUCH better, the wall still looks like I have a pipe running down it. The top of my TV stand is empty now so I have to put somthing up there anyways. Here I have two tall wrought iron scrollwork candleholders and red silk orchids in a red triangular vase. With the same type pillar candles used as over the fireplace this is just tall enough to hide the cord cover. The candle holders come as a pair (one short, one tall) so I had to by two pair at $21.95 each. Not to worry, I had a plan for the short ones too! The silk orchids have since been discontinued, but it cost me $14.95 and is worth every penny. I absolutely LOVE orchids and red is the accent color for my living/dining room space so it couldn't be more perfect for me.
Go on, speak your mind. I want to hear from you!
